Green New Years Resolution
Thanks to our sponsors for helping make the purchase of 75 trees possible. These trees will be planted in the Umpqua National Forest of Oregon, which experienced a series of forest fires in 2017, known as the Umpqua North Complex. In addition to replacing the number of tress harvested for production of printed conference material over the years, these trees will reestablish tree cover for wildlife habitat and improve watershed health.
.Thanks to our sponsors who provide the support for the 2022 NWAC to pursue sustainable initiatives this year! Our Green New Year's Resolutions are to:
Offset carbon emissions generated from the 2021 and 2022 conferences.
Replace trees cut down to print the last 75 years worth of conference programs and abstracts.
Host a conference forum to discuss concerns of carbon emissions and other issues related to global warming, and identify achievable strategies that could be applied to NWAC.
Present sustainability strategies to the NWAA Board for consideration to implement in future conferences.
