We are excited to announce that in 2024, the Northwest Anthropological Conference will be held in Portland, Oregon, a city known for its activism, bridges, roses, and diverse array of cuisines and cultures. The conference planning team, co-hosted by Portland State University and GeoVisions, is looking forward to hosting people from all over the Northwest and introducing them to this area that has been an important meeting place since time immemorial.

We hope to center the discussions of the conference around a sustainable and equitable future in anthropology that is actively shaped by descendant communities and prioritizes inclusion of historically marginalized people into anthropological research and projects while incorporating their perspectives into academic publishing and regulatory policy. This year's theme of building bridges reflects the collaboration and connection needed in all fields and practices of Anthropology.

Our venue is the University Place Hotel & Conference Center near Portland State University in the heart of the city with easy access to local businesses, restaurants, museums, bike paths, and transit systems.
