The 78th Northwest Anthropological Conference (NWAC) will join the Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) annual meeting in Portland from 25-29 March 2025. NWAC members are invited to attend the entire SfAA event spanning Tuesday to Saturday, 25-29 March 2025 at the Hilton Portland Downtown. NWAC’s portion of the conference will include many of our typical events, with extra opportunities for networking with an international anthropology community.

The 2025 SfAA Annual Meeting is focused on “Revitalizing Applied Anthropology” with the intention of recognizing the missteps of the past and reflecting on the high points of the discipline of anthropology that brought us to this discipline. In 2025 the Northwest Anthropological Association (NWAA), the organizing body of NWAC, also calls on our community to reflect on our 78-year history of exchanging ideas and information among members of the Northwest anthropological community. As the NWAA works to revitalize NWAC by building a sustainable organization centered on our Northwest communities, we are asking you to reflect on your place in history and use your power to create institutional change. We welcome sessions and forums inspired by institutional change and invite you to join NWAA and our committees as we work to build a better conference.​
