Traditional Foods Forum

NWAC 2025
Portland, Oregon
March 25-29, 2025
Tues-Sat
Hilton Portland Downtown

Tuesday, March 25, 2025

The SfAA has announced the Traditional Foods Forum, scheduled for Tuesday March 25th. The forum provides an opportunity for communities to meet, share experiences, and describe projects and programs related to the preservation, restoration, and improvement of access to traditional foods and resources. The Traditional Foods Forum is also designed to reflect on the challenges and successes over the last quarter century, while looking to a future where we work together across disciplines to support these important aspects of cultural perpetuation. We aim to create an environment of trust and respect for culturally sensitive topics.

Programming includes:

The Exposition: Tribes, Bands, First Nations, and others will have a venue to table and present food-related programs and projects.

Thematic Conversations: The planning committee is currently discussing key themes that will frame conversations and discussions of projects, programming, and successes. Presentations may include individual roundtable discussions, panels, and workshops.

Keynote Speakers: The planning committee is identifying potential keynote speakers to help encompass experience in tribal food projects and movements in the Pacific Northwest.
